Below are the recommended steps and keynotes on cleaning desk mats/mousepads.
Key Note:
- Use soft detergent powder
- Use a cloth brush (in particular, having soft bristles is key) Do not use just any brush, as the non-cloth brushes/bristles can/will damage mouse pads and desk mats.
- Never use hot or cold water. Use room temperature water only. This is to prevent shrinkage or stretching.
Steps:
1. Soak the desk pad/mouse pad in room temperature or lukewarm water for a few minutes
2. Place it on a flat surface
3. Pick an edge to start with, and apply a small amount of detergent powder gently.
4. Start rubbing the detergent in a circular motion. Clockwise or counterclockwise, just make sure to be consistent and only go in one direction.
5. Repeat until the entire pad is covered.
6. Rinse the water at room temp.
Recommendation: Do this process twice.
Drying is a separate process. We recommend air drying it.
Note:
- Please do not leave it out in direct sunlight.
- Please do not use any hair dryer or hot drying machine. This will cause shrinkage and/or warping or stretching.
To verify if your mat is really clean, you can scratch a spot gently: if you can't see brown or white dots then you've successfully cleaned out your mat!
If you do see them, however, it means there's still dust left in the mousepad and you can repeat the process.
